Speaking: 1.Describe a time when you forgot something important/ Describe a time once you borrowed something useful
Ok, then I am going to share with you the time when
I forgot something important/ once I borrowed something useful. It happened a
few years ago when I had to attend an important exam for my engineering
qualification.
The test strictly required candidates to
complete their
payment for semester fee before taking the exam.
Because I did not remember the deadline and forgot to pay the money, I only had
a final chance to pay the fee at the time before the examination. I was sure
that morning when I left for the exam I had put the money in my wallet.
So by the time I reached the examination hall, I quickly opened my wallet to
check. To my surprise, my wallet was gone.
May be I lost my wallet when I had breakfast near my
house. I was so stunned because all of my cash and ID cards were in the wallet.
This could have resulted in my answer booklet being disqualified
and I would have had retake the exam. Since the exam was held once a year only,
this accident would not only have cost me valuable time but also a lot of money
for the upcoming exams and the late fee.
In panic, I looked around to see any familiar face
to ask for help. I did not see anyone
but my classmate, Thuy. I took a deep breath and decided to ask her if
she had enough money that I could borrow.
Luckily, she did. She smiled and was willing to lend
me the cash. I was relieved and ready to sit my exam, thanks to a kind friend.

25/07/2015: As well as
making money, businesses also have social responsibilities. Do you agree or
disagree?
The idea that, besides
making money, companies also need to have public responsibilities remains a source of controversy. In my opinion, while generating profit is
the top priority for each enterprise, I agree that they should also conduct their business in a socially responsible manner
On the one hand, the
efforts of companies to maximize their profits may have some benefits for
society as a whole.
Firstly, the higher the revenues earned by companies, the more taxes they pay
to the government. As a results, authorities may have more income to spend in some
social projects, including education and social welfare, which leads to an
improvement in quality of life of the whole community. Secondly, by
earning huge profits companies have the opportunity to grow their business.
For example, firms could use their capital to expand their markets,
therefore they build more factories and create new job opportunities within the
local community.
On the other hand, I
believe there are strong reasons why businesses should also have social
responsibilities. The first reason is that their manufactures have a directly
effect on the environment. Without controls, production processes
may result in serious environmental degradation, such as global
warning stemming from factory emissions or the
irresponsible disposal of industrial waste. For example, if
factories installed waste water treatment system instead of discharging
chemical wastes into rivers, water pollution could be controlled. Another
reason is that enterprises should help those who are less fortunate, since they
have the money to do so. In details, some big corporations such as FPT and
Unilever have enhanced their brand image and reputation through charitable
contributions and corporate involvement in community education, employment and
homelessness programs.
In conclusion, although
making profits is the fundamental principle of business, I would argue that all
companies should profoundly reflect upon their social responsibilities
